Welcome to Holy Vacation Queen, an adventure in everyday holiness!

We all do it — search and thirst for ‘something more’ in the world, seeking contentment in vacations, homes, money, careers, goals, projects and relationships. I did it for years, searching for ‘something more‘ traveling the world, in my career as a television producer, and in relationships.

What I finally learned is that God is all I need.  And that grace always brings even more than I even hoped for.

But my life journey to get here has been a crooked, often perilous journey — and a classic story of being lost and then found.  I share my story in my first blog, and a Big Dream that changed my life hereBe sure to read it when you have time!  In these blogs I share an overview of how I got here.  I hope they’ll inspire you to reflect on your own spiritual journey! And if you want to learn more about the story behind title of this blog — Holy Vacation Queen — you can read about it here.

Concerns, worries and unholy habits often steal our better intentions for living virtuous and peaceful lives. Everyday holiness involves caring for our souls, daily devotional practices, and the support of like minded friends and communities to help us return to God, the source of our peace, joy, and contentment.

Here, you’ll discover blessed treasures and ancient wisdom for living everyday holiness in your work, relationships, families and communities–tools to help you build a life infused with faith, contentment, hope and love.

Here you’ll discover and explore the mighty, compassionate, promising love of God.

I’m also a producer of independent social issue documentaries and videos at my production company,  Big Voice Pictures.  Aside from sharing weekly blogs, since I love film, I’ll also share occasional short films by talented colleagues, and helpful videos, to inspire your holy quest.

For years I asked myself – and lived — these hard questions: What does it really mean to be holy? How can we live a holy life when our behaviors don’t always match our more noble intentions? Can we really change, transform, and become more loving, kind and pious in our daily lives?  Since we’re all confronted each day with worldly expectations and challenged by demands and stresses of our lives — jobs, parenting, care taking, paying bills, and caring for our home lives — is living a life of everyday holiness even possible? When we’re angry, worried and caught up in the cravings of the world, how can we return to God as our source of peace?

The Greek word for holy, hagious, means to be different, or otherness.  In a spiritual sense it means to be like God, and set apart from the ways of the world.  Holiness is about bringing our imperfections, worries, anxieties and concerns from dark corners into the light of God’s perfect love for transformation. Here, it’s all about reclaiming ourselves as children of God.

Overtime, by making God the center of my life, I realized the fruitlessness of years grasping for ‘something more’ — the years searching for contentment from the world that could never deliver.   My incessant worrying diminished, and life became more joyful, rich, and vibrant.  Relationships mended, and hope abounds.  Although I still grapple with doubt, and still face life’s struggles, as I return each day to the forgiving threshold of God’s agape love, I  begin afresh living in the beauty of another breathing moment, day by day.

Everyone is invited here.  Even though I write from a Judeo-Christian perspective — if you read my first blog — you’ll see in my past I’ve also traveled many spiritual paths.  So no exclusive club membership or frequent flyer miles needed on this journey.
